Preview:

The North Queensland Cowboys play the Tigers on Saturday, 7.30 at 1300SMILES Stadium. The result of this one game has a number of implications for other teams, with North Queensland in the best position of all. If the Warriors or Titans win on Saturday, then this is a do-or-die game for the Cowboys. However, even if this situation does eventuate, North Queensland are highly unlikely to lose such an important game at home to a struggling Tigers side. Unlike the Warriors and Titans, the Cowboys have fate in their own hands and should take advantage of that fact with a strong victory.

Bolton to fill in for injured Cowboy Scott

Scott Bolton has been elevated to fill the sizeable shoes of injured Test prop Matt Scott for North Queensland’s must-win clash against Wests Tigers on Saturday night.

Bolton will start in the front row with Scott having undergone surgery on Monday to repair a broken middle finger.

With Scott lasting just ten minutes against Cronulla on Sunday before being forced from the field, Bolton stepped up to the plate with a mammoth 149 metres in the 31-18 win.

Bolton’s elevation to the starting line-up has opened the door for Ashton Sims to come onto the bench.

The Cowboys, who have won their last five games, need to beat the Tigers to assure themselves a finals berth.

Gold Coast meanwhile received a boost on Tuesday with co-captain Nate Myles named to play against melbourne on Saturday night.

Myles hurt his ankle in the Titans’ epic win over Sydney Roosters, but was cleared of any serious damage.

He is still racing the clock to be fit to take on the Storm, with the Titans needing to beat the premiers and hope one of either the Cowboys or Newcastle lose to sneak into the top eight.
