Sebastian Vettel has won the Japanese Grand Prix from his Australian Red Bull teammate Mark Webber but missed out on sealing his fourth successive world title.

Vettel notched his fifth straight victory as he reeled in pole-starter Webber and Lotus’s Romain Grosjean, who were second and third respectively.

It was not enough to clinch the season title as his nearest rival, Fernando Alonso, stayed just in touch by placing fourth.
