Super Saturday is one of the most anticipated racing events on the calendar each year, with two Group 1 races taking place alongside a range of supporting events. Held at Flemington Racecourse on Saturday the 8th of March, Super Saturday is a major highlight of the Melbourne Festival of Racing.

Both the Group 1 Australian Cup and Group 1 Newmarket Handicap are held on the day, along with three Group 2 races, two Group 3 races, and two Listed races. The Flemington Grazing Trail & Cellar Door is also taking place on Super Saturday, presented by the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival.
Run over a distance of 1200 metres, the Newmarket Handicap has long been considered Australia’s premier sprint race. Now worth over $1M, this exciting event is one not to miss. The Australian Cup is another event with a long and distinguished history, run over 2000 metres and also worth $1,005,000.

Some of Victoria’s finest food producers, wineries, and breweries will be displaying their goods on the Flemington front lawn, with cooking demonstrations taking place throughout the day on the SMEG Demonstration Stage. My Kitchen Rules teams will be there on the day, with additional bars and restaurants also open around the racecourse.
Super Saturday is held this year on Saturday the 8th of March, with gates opening at 10.40am. The first race springs into action at 12.10pm, with the last event at 5.20pm. General admission tickets for Super Saturday are $25, with student concession tickets available for $20, pensioners for $12, and children under 16 free.
