Dan Hannebery’s rebuild has prompted the star St Kilda recruit to leave their AFL player leadership group.
The Saints have confirmed Hannebery is no longer among their official leaders, just over a month after he was appointed.
It follows the news last week that Hannebery’s ongoing injury problems mean he will need several weeks to regain fitness.
Coach Alan Richardson said Hannebery’s body needs to be rebuilt.
He is yet to play for the Saints after his high-profile trade from Sydney.
“Dan needs to focus solely on getting himself into a position where he can deliver on his potential to help our team be better,” Richardson said in a statement.
“The club wants Dan 100 per cent focused on getting back to his best and let his performances do the talking.”
