Run To The Rose 2013 day Tips – Rosehill Racecourse

Feature racing in New South Wales on Saturday will be run at Rosehill racecourse with the headline race being the Run To The Rose for three year olds looking to contest some of the Group 1 races over the Spring notably the Golden Rose.

The current track condition for Rosehill is a Good 3 and with the sun shining over Sydney we are likely to be racing on a good track come race time which will give every horse a chance.

Race One: Rosehill Gardens (bm75) 1400m Form Guide

Back Me: Great Esteem gets into this race very well suited. Hit the line well last start and should go better on top of the ground. Drops weight from that race and from barrier 3 will get every chance. Currently an $8 chance in betting which looks great value and i doubt it will last.
Don’t Back Me: Savvy Nature Won on debut last preparation in a Kembla maiden then was well beaten in a better quality race. Trialled well but at the odds im willing to risk the trial form and leave him out of my selections.
Big Danger: Bull Point is a very consistant horse who wasn’t disgraced last start in a better quality race. Is yet to run on top of the ground so that is a query although on ability he will be tough to beat despite having to carry the top weight.
Roughie:Aspen hit the line strongly last start and despite it being a mid week race i thought the form through it is quite good. Should improve with the step up in distance and she races well second up which she is on Saturday. The $21 on offer looks good value in a winnable race.

Race Two: Australian Turf Club (bm80) 1900m Form Guide

Back Me: Aliyana was unlucky last start in what looks to be the form race. She is well weighted from that run only going up 1kg and is likely to go back from barrier 8. By Zabeel so should be better with the increase in distance and in a relatively weak field should be hard to beat.
Don’t Back Me: Tenby Lady had all of the favours last start and couldn’t get the job done with a few horses in this race who finished behind her finding trouble. She is the worst weighted from that race and from barrier 11 may mean she is posted wide thus ill be risking her on Saturday.
Big Danger: Sweet Talkin Woman got shuffled back last start in the form race and was unlucky not to have finished closer. Gets into the weights well here and she deserves a win on Saturday were she is a good each way bet at $13.
Roughie: Sadler’s Wish will be sent out at massive odds of $51 which i think is overs for a horse with a live chance in this race. Beat Blurred Visions three starts ago and could provide a big upset.

Race Three: Ranvet (bm95) 1500m Form Guide

Back Me: Altius drops in class here and drops weight which will give him every chance. He steps up in distance which he has a very good record over and third up he has a good record which he is on Saturday. He will need a little bit of luck from barrier 11 but the lightly raced galloper but his class should prevail and looks good value at $4.
Don’t Back Me: Prince Cheri ran well last start but is dropping in distance from that race which i don’t like. Is untried at the distance and the track and has no second up form so im happy to risk him at the odds here with too many unknowns about him.
Big Danger: Kingdoms will no doubt be looking for further but he is the class horse of the race. He is coming off a Autumn campaign and on those runs he will be right in this at the weights and looks good value at $6.
Roughie: Samui Lad raced well back on top of the ground last start and is likely to be in front when they turn the corner into the straight. has race fitness on his side and with the minimum weight he should give a good kick at big odds.

Race Four: Tab Rewards (bm80) 2400m Form Guide

Back Me: Sheniyan hasn’t been beaten far his past five starts and he looks like he will relish the step up in distance here. He is a stayer on the way up were as a lot of this field are coming to their tether. Currently a $13 chance in betting which i think is great value in what is a very winnable race for him.
Don’t Back Me: Marden i thought put in a pretty poo run last start and on the back of that i wont be backing him here. Has had eleven starts over the distance for just the one win and has to carry the top weight.
Big Danger: Martinvast won well in mid week company last start and drops weight from that run. Will get a good run from barrier 2 and McKevoy will give him every chance to make it back to back wins.
Roughie: Red Typhoon showed a lot of promise early in her career but has been out of form lately. Willing to give her one more chance here and if she can find her best she is a winning chance at $41.

Race Five: James Mccall Retirement (bm90) 1300m Form Guide

Back Me: Proverb is a talented galloper and over the autumn and winter contested some very good races and wasn’t beaten far in them. Will need a bit of luck from the wide barrier but the quality he has shown will carry him a long way on Saturday and the $14 on offer looks great value.
Don’t Back Me: Boban has good form from a winter campaign in Queensland although first up he is yet to run a place from three tries so based on that im happy to leave him out on Saturday.
Big Danger: Velrosso continues to impress me with his wins although this is probably the testing material for him and with the big weight it will be his toughest task but he goes into the race with fitness on his side and the 3kg claim will help his chances. Likely to drift a bit in the market but will be hard to beat.
Roughie: Harmonic won a good form race last start and has the ability to back that up with another win here. Will start at good odds and will go close here.

Race Six: Mta Nsw Run To The Rose 1200m Form Guide

Back Me: Criterion is an exciting galloper who will no doubt be better suited over longer although his first up record is good and is likely to go back from the wide barrier so if there is good speed on which there looks to be he could be the horse to swamp them at massive odds of $21.
Don’t Back Me: Eurozone has won all three of his career starts although this is another step up and im not sure he will be able to continue his winning ways against a quality field like this and id prefer to bet around him than on him here.
Big Danger: Sidestep had absolutely no luck last start in a race i think he would have won if he had a clear passage in the straight. He goes into this race with a run under his belt which could prove a crucial winning advantage.
Roughie: Into The Red was thrown in the deep end at his first start and wasn’t beaten far in a Group 2. He proved that he was a talented runner at his only other start when winning impressively. Kelso Wood rarely brings a horse to Sydney if he doesn’t think he can win and i think that is the case on Saturday were he is a $19 shot and a live winning chance.

Race Seven: Sportsyear (bm80) 1100m Form Guide

Back Me: Blazing Snitzel looks geared up to run a massive race at $12 on Saturday. She has a very good first up record and with a 3kg claim will only have 51kg on her back. Likely to go forward in a race which doesn’t look to have much tempo to it so should get easy sectionals and be hard to run down in a winnable race.
Don’t Back Me: Lucky Lago won by a big margin last start but that was on a rain affected track so the margin looks better than what the win was. before that he was racing okay in lower quality races so with the wide barrier and big weight im happy to risk him here.
Big Danger: Kristy Lee has been unlucky at her last two starts and if she can get some clear running room in the straight on Saturday i expect her to be right in the finish and at $13 looks great value.
Roughie: Miss Spoken ran very wide throughout last start and with barrier 5 on Saturday will get a much better run in transit on Saturday and at $34 in betting she looks a great long shot to throw into your multiples or back each way.

Race Eight: R8 Premier’s Cup 1800m Form Guide

Back Me: Honorius wasn’t expected to win first up over 1400m but he did and he was always going to be better second up over a longer distance which he is on Saturday. Likely to sit further back from barrier 11 and i think he is a huge contender over the spring and will be winning here at $3.60.
Don’t Back Me: Lunayir was hampered for a run last start but i don’t think it cost him much in the way of lengths on the line. Well beaten in that race and im expecting those who beat him there to beat him again here.
Big Danger: Hathras didn’t show much first up although that was over the mile and he had a big weight. He drops 3.5kg here and will be much better suited over the longer distance and looks a massive player in the race at $11.
Roughie: Ironstein carried the big weight over an unsuitable distance last start and i though his run was quite good for the circumstances. Much better suited in this race so im happy to back him at $41 each way.
