Blake Green set for Super League return

Hull KR have received a boost with the news that Australian halfback Blake Green could return to Super League action by the end of April.

Last year’s Robins’ player of the year was ruled out indefinitely when he developed a blood clot in his calf on the eve of the new season.

However, a scan has revealed the clot has now disappeared and, according to Rovers head coach Craig Sandercock, the player is closing in on a return, possibly against London Broncos on April 22.

“Blake is responding very well to treatment and his blood clot has now resolved,” he said.

“He’ll continue with his anticoagulant therapy for the next few weeks and, providing he continues to respond as he has thus far and the haematologist gives him the all clear, we anticipate Blake will be available for approximately round 12.”

Rovers have been particularly badly hit by injuries so far this season but Green’s halves partner Michael Dobson returned for last week’s game at Warrington and the club could have Jordan Cox, Scott Murrell and Lincoln Withers back for Sunday’s home game against Widnes.
