Jockey Steven King will miss next week’s Super Saturday meeting at Flemington after he was suspended for an incident which could have resulted in Damien Oliver suffering his second fall in as many days.
Racing Victoria stewards found King guilty of careless riding in Saturday’s PFD Food Services Stakes (1400m) at Flemington after he shifted in on Biancon Rose near the 1100 metres, causing Oliver’s mount Golden Penny to check and dip.
Oliver crashed heavily the night before at Moonee Valley when Like An Eagle snapped both forelegs.
Saturday’s interference was deemed to be in the mid-range and King pleaded guilty to the charge.
King said he was caught in an awkward position because of the slow early pace of the race.
It was only his second suspension since October 2010 and stewards took into account his good record when arriving at his penalty.
