The undefeated Giants face their second real test of the early season against a Carlton outfit looking to bounce back from a loss.

Fans of the orange tsunami watched their side nearly blow a healthy lead against St Kilda last week, Ross Lyon’s side booting six unanswered goals to fall a point shy in one of the games of the year.

Things were just as tight under the roof at Marvel as Carlton fell two points short of previously winless Adelaide.

Some wayward kicking went a long way to costing the Blues a fifth straight win, but there were also some concerning signs emerging down back with the Crows enjoying their fair share of the spoils (and marks) inside 50.

Betting-wise, the Blues have played to a mediocre 4-6 record off a previous loss over the last 12 months, not faring much better at the line with a 3-7 mark next to their name.

Side by side, the Giants might actually be the more dangerous team up forward averaging two more goals a game, but Carlton could make this interesting if they apply the same kind of tackling pressure we’ve become accustomed to this season.

Stephen Coniglio’s absence could prove costly for the Giants, but it’s worth monitoring Carlton’s injury report with Adam Saad and Mitch McGovern pulling up with hamstring injuries in the loss to the Crows.

Really, this game is a total coin flip, but I’m willing to bet Carlton’s loss last week might prove to be a good thing in the long run as it helps to take some of the pressure off.
