Russia have done extremely well to make it to this stage of the 2018 World Cup, but it is fair to say that they have overachieved.
They were able to make it out of the weakest group at the tournament and they were very fortunate to get past Spain in the Round of 16.

Croatia’s Golden Generation may never have a better chance to make a deep run at a major international tournament and they do have a massive class edge over Russia right across the park.
They were poor and surprisingly negative against Denmark, but hopefully they have gotten that performance out of their system and they can return to the sort of football that saw them score a dominant win over Argentina during the Group stages.
Not only do they have an huge array of attacking talent, led by Luka Modric, but they also have a very well-organised defence and they have only conceded two goals during the tournament to date.
It is tough to see Russia scoring against Croatia and the Croatians can comfortable progress to the World Cup Semi Finals.
