Football Federation Australia chairman Frank Lowy has moved to hose down speculation A-League chief Lyall Gorman’s job is under threat.

Lowy was responding to a report on Monday that suggested he would make major changes to the FFA executive, with Gorman most under pressure less than two years after taking on the role.

FFA released a short statement on Monday afternoon.

“The Chairman of FFA, Mr Frank Lowy AC, has today dismissed as baseless and without substance media reports suggesting that the position of Lyall Gorman as head of A-League was under review,” the statement read.

“Lyall Gorman continues in the role of Head of A-League.”

Former Central Coast Mariners executive chairman Gorman was appointed to succeed Archie Fraser as A-League chief in May, 2010.

FFA has come under fire from several A-League clubs in recent days and weeks, notably Clive Palmer’s Gold Coast United and Nathan Tinkler’s Newcastle Jets.
