Wallabies mix and match for first 2 Tests

Wallabies coach Robbie Deans has forecast substantial selection changes between first two Tests of Australia’s packed 2012 international rugby schedule.

The Wallabies open their 2012 campaign with a one-off Test against Scotland in Newcastle on June 5 followed by the first of a three-Test series against Wales in Brisbane just four days later.

“There is a possibility for some players to back up, but it is inevitable that it won’t be the same two combinations,” said Deans on Tuesday. “It’s just not possible.”

Deans suggested the team for the Scotland Test will be made up primarily of players from the Queensland Reds and Western Force, both of which have a bye the week before the inbound Tests start.

The Wallabies’ final match of the revamped four-team Rugby Championship – formerly Tri-Nations series – against newcomers Argentina on October 6 will be played in Rosario.

Australia play their third and final Bledisloe Cup match of the year against New Zealand in Brisbane on November 20 and will leave for their Spring tour just two weeks later.

They have a tough start in Europe against perennial Six Nations powerhouses France (Paris, November 10) and England (London, Nov 17).

The Wallabies will also play Italy in either Bologna or Parma on November 24 and finish off against Wales (Cardiff, December 1.
