Geelong to host Aust Masters Games in 2013

The Australian Masters Games will return to Geelong in 2013, with the biannual event expected to attract thousands of tourists and boost the city’s economy.

The event attracted 7000 people, including 2800 interstate visitors, to Geelong when it hosted the event in 2009.

Victorian Premier Ted Baillieu told reporters in Geelong on Saturday the city was well-equipped to host the event in October NEXT YEAR.

“I think Geelong has got great facilities,” he said.

“Geelong has done it before and Geelong can do it again.”

The Games, which are held over 10 days, are Australia’s largest multi-sport participation event, involving more than 50 sports from cycling to karate.

Participants range from 20 to 100 years old.
