Preview:

Records: Philadelphia Eagles (7-5); Detroit Lions (7-5).

TV/Radio: FOX (national). WIP-FM 94.1 (Philadelphia), WIP-AM 610 (Philadelphia).

Latest lines: Eagles, minus 2.5. Over-under, 53.5.

Last time they met: The Eagles fell to the Lions in overtime, 26-23, last October.

Series notes: The Eagles lead the all-time series with Detroit, 16-13-2.

Key matchup: Calvin Johnson vs. Bradley Fletcher/Cary Williams

Williams and Fletcher got a warmup in Larry Fitzgerald last week and held him to just 72 yards on five catches with one score. The difference being, Lions QB Matt Stafford will target Johnson around 10-20 on Sunday and Johnson can get catches in double and triple coverage. There won’t be any shutting down of Johnson, only the hope of containing him. Anything less than 150 yards and two touchdowns would be a successful effort for the Eagles cornerbacks.

Lions front seven vs. Eagles ‘O’

Eagles running back LeSean McCoy has still been going over the 100-yard mark in all-purpose yards, but hasn’t really got it going in the run game or the passing game. The Lions focus, much like the Cardinals will be to shut him down and get to the quarterback. The Lions front seven is tough, but beatable, and if McCoy can get anything going, he’ll take the pressure off Nick Foles and give the Eagles a better chance to win.

Noteworthy stats: 6. The Eagles won six straight meeting before losing to the Lions last year. Current Lions kicker David Akers was in Philadelphia for a majority of those contests.

Looking ahead: The Eagles travel to Minnesota next week, followed by their final regular season home game against the Chicago Bears on 12/22.

Rob Edwards’ prediction: These games keep getting tougher. The Lions can score with the best of them and I think RB Reggie Bush might give the Eagles more problems than Calvin Johnson. I still can’t deny what Nick Foles has been able to do and I think this is the game where he shows what he can do in the fourth quarter.
