South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Newcastle Knights 2013 NRL Round 12 preview and tips

The Saturday night game sees first placed South Sydney take on fifth placed Newcastle Knights in what should be the match of the shortened round.

Souths are coming off a relative quick back-up and a loss, having been beaten by Cronulla 14-12 on Monday night.

It was only Souths second loss for the season and, with star play maker Greg Inglis in camp with the Queensland Origin side, either John Sutton or Adam Reynolds to be called up for NSW, and Sam Burgess out with suspension, it’ll be a good test to see how the Rabbitohs can back up.

Newcastle registered their best win of the season against Canterbury in Round 10 but couldn’t reproduce that effort when travelling to New Zealand last week to take on the Warriros.

Leading at half-time, the Knights could not hold off the Warriors late in the second half and the loss was further soured by the loss of fullback Darius Boyd with an ankle injury and during the week, the loss of Kurt Gidley who suffered a foot in jury in the game.

It continued an up-and-down month for the Knights who are proving hard for punters to get a handle on.

Souths have won three of the past four clashes between the two sides with three of these matches, totalling 38+ total match points.

With key players missing for each side, it’s a hard game to line up but think Souths have showed this year they can adapt to different situations during the game.

This will be a tough, close game.
