Rebels sign NSW Waratah winger Kingston

The Melbourne Rebels have lured Waratahs winger Tom Kingston south with reports NSW five-eighth Bernard Foley is set to join him.

The Rebels announced on Friday that Kingston had signed a two-deal deal at the Super Rugby club, committing until the end of the 2015 season.

Melbourne were enroute to Brisbane for Saturday night’s clash with the Queensland Reds and unable to comment on a report that Foley had also signed.

Rebels general manager of rugby Sam Cordingley said 21-year-old Kingston deserved more game time than he’d had at NSW this season.

“He is a quality person and a fantastic athlete who will realise his potential with regular time on the park in a Rebels jersey,” he said.

“With the departure of Richard Kingi there was an opportunity to recruit a quality outside back and Tom is certainly that.”

Kingston joins experienced halfback Luke Burgess and promising back-rower Lopeti Timani at the Rebels next season, along with Tom Sexton, Toby Smith and Max Lahiff, who are all Australian-born and will join the Rebels from abroad.
