Personal battles add spice to 2012 State of Origin

There will be plenty of personal battles fought out during Game 1 of the State of Origin series and none more so than Robbie Farah versus Cameron Smith and Billy Slater against Brett Stewart.

Online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au has pitted the players against each other and the markets suggest that Slater will have the edge but Smith won’t have everything his way.

Smith is the $1.45 favourite to make more tackles than Farah ($2.70) but the pair are each priced at $1.90 to gain the most metres and score the most tries.

Slater has been installed as the $1.75 favourite to Stewart’s ($2.05) to gain most metres and the Storm fullback is tipped to have to do less defending, priced as the $2.50 outsider to make the most tackles – Stewart is at $1.50.

Slater is also favoured to score the most tries, priced at $2.25 and should Slater score a try at any time in Game 1, Sportsbet.com.au will refund punters their first bet placed on the match.

Queensland remain $1.48 favourites to win Game 1 with New South Wales at $2.80.
