Sebastian Vettel finished off the 2013 season in style at the Brazilian Grand Prix on Sunday with a ninth successive victory.

The four-time world champion was followed across the line at Interlagos by teammate Mark Webber in what was his last outing as a F1 driver.

The veteran Australian is leaving Red Bull to begin a new career with Porsche on the sportscar racing circuit.

Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso took third with Jenson Button’s McLaren in fourth.

Vettel matched Michael Schumacher’s record of 13 victories in a year and equalled the nine consecutive wins of Alberto Ascari.

Vettel, who had already wrapped up a fourth straight F1 title, was overtaken by Nico Rosberg of Mercedes at the start but regained the lead on the second lap.

The German cruised to his second victory in Brazil and 39th of his career. He crossed the line 10.4 seconds in front of Webber.

“Remember this. Enjoy this moment. Yes! We did it! This is unbelievable,” Vettel said over the team radio.

Rosberg finished fifth, ahead of McLaren’s Sergio Perez, Ferrari’s Felipe Massa, Nico Hulkenberg in a Sauber, the Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton and Australian Daniel Ricciardo in his final race for Toro Rosso before replacing Webber at Red Bull.

Webber’s second place allows him to go out third in the drivers’ championship, behind Vettel and Alonso, overtaking Hamilton in the standings.
