Two promising stablemates who impressed late last season are building towards their racetrack returns, with Raging Force set to be the first to reappear.
A son of Snowden’s former quality sprinter Cosmic Force, Raging Force announced himself as a carnival contender during winter, stringing together three consecutive wins, the latest a commanding display at Rosehill on July 5.
After a short break, the three-year-old has returned to work and is scheduled to trial at Randwick on August 19 before resuming in a stakes race.
“He will go to the San Domenico,” Snowden said.
“Touch wood, he looks really well. A million bucks. He only had two weeks off but it was a bit of a mental freshen-up.
“He will present well and he’ll run well.”
Snowden is equally enthusiastic about the progress of fellow colt Beadman, who went for a spell after a breathtaking eight-length victory in the Group 3 Ken Russell Memorial (1200m) at the Gold Coast in May.
Both colts hit their stride late in their juvenile campaigns, having had their debuts delayed by minor setbacks that required patience.
Raging Force’s debut was cut short in the Breeders’ Plate (1000m) when injury sidelined him for several months, a frustration Snowden now believes could work in his favour long-term.
“My horses were given plenty of time to mature, especially Beadman and Raging Force and it generally does pay dividends,” he said.
“It’s different if they’re up and running and strong. To be fair, Raging Force, if he hadn’t had an incident he would have been up and running earlier but it forced him out for four months and put him back a bit.
“Beadman, he had a few little issues too that had to be sorted out. They’re both behind him now and he looks absolutely amazing. He is probably another three weeks away from a trial but he looks that great he could be trialling tomorrow.”
The Group 3 San Domenico Stakes (1100m) will be staged at Rosehill on August 30.
