Race 1 – 1:00pm – Bendigo Mazda Maiden Plate (1100m)

Foturi only just missed when resuming and looks capable of going one better in the first at Bendigo on Wednesday.

The Star Witness gelding is yet to miss placing in three starts since debuting, and he ran home well to finish half a length behind the winner at Echuca when fresh.

He’ll take plenty of improvement into this race and can fight out the finish.

Race 2 – 1:35pm – Maiden Plate (2400m)

Slickback Teddy mustered an eye-catching turn of foot to only just miss at Echuca when resuming, and this looks a great opportunity for him to break his maiden.

The Elvstroem gelding didn’t show a lot during his debut prep, but Matt Cumani’s decision to launch his prep over a trip this time nearly paid dividends.

With improvement and getting further out again, I am happy to stick with him.

Race 3 – 2:10pm – The Big Screen Company 3YO Maiden Plate (1400m)

He was well beaten, but Star Midfielder returned a nice effort to fill the minors behind subsequent city winner Linas Legend on debut, and he can break his maiden at Bendigo this week.

The Magnus gelding kept all of his best work for late at Echuca late last month, and he is another horse who is sure to enjoy plenty of improvement for that experience.

John Allen takes the ride from a good draw, and he could prove a touch of overs at around the $6 mark.

Race 4 – 2:45pm – Apiam Animal Health BM64 Handicap (1600m)

Rapid Achiever puts an unbeaten record on the line in Race 4 at Bendigo this afternoon and can continue her rise through the grades.

The Wootton Bassett mare stamped herself as a runner to follow with a dominant performance on debut at Donald, and she was equally impressive in BM64 company at Ladbrokes Park last time.

She has plenty of upside and can win again.

Race 5 – 3:20pm – Catanach’s Jewellers Fillies & Mares BM70 Handicap (1300m)

This shapes as one of the more open races on Wednesday’s Bendigo card, and I am going to have something on the resuming Agreeable.

Agreeable charged home to finish third behind Palace Whisperer at Ladbrokes Park when resuming last time before recording an impressive win in Saturday company at Caulfield.

She wasn’t disgraced in black type company in her last two appearances, and this is obviously a substantial drop in class.

Race 6 – 3:55pm – Bendigo MG BM64 Handicap (1300m)

I’m happy to give Stelvio another chance fourth-up at Bendigo on Saturday.

Stelvio recorded a lovely win at Pakenham when fresh, and he has since filled the minors in a couple of similar midweek contests at Ladbrokes Park, despite being unwanted in the market.

He strikes this race in peak condition and is drawn to receive the run of the race.

Race 7 – 4:30pm – Bendigo Locksmiths Class 1 Handicap (1400m)

The talented Marimenko will go around in the penultimate race at Bendigo on Wednesday, and he has opened a very short $1.60 favourite.

I can’t find one to beat him, but the price is also too short for me, and I am happy to stay out.

Race 8 – 5:05pm – Silks Events & Functions BM70 Handicap (1100m)

More Secrets hasn’t been seen at the races since April, but she recorded two wins from as many starts during her debut prep, and she looks well placed to strike fresh on Wednesday.

The More Than read mare put paid to them at Pakenham on debut, and she was put away after striking in BM64 company here at Bendigo.

Craig Williams keeps the ride and the mare getting into this race well under the conditions.
