Race 1 – 1:25pm – Vinery Handicap (1400m)

A typically open way to begin the day and there is a case to be built for several gallopers, including Mokulua.

Mokulua has made three appearances at the races since debuting and is yet to miss placing, finishing an agonizingly close second in a similar race here at Randwick-Kensington last time.

Fitter third-up and from the good draw, I am happy to stick with her.

Race 2 – 2:00pm – 1st Crop Magna Grecia Foals Plate (1100m)

There’s virtually no form to read ahead of Race 2 at Randwick-Kensington on Wednesday and at publish, several debutants are prominent in betting.

I can’t find an angle that I am particularly confident in, and I am happy to stay out.

Race 3 – 2:35pm – Buy @ Irish Sales Online Handicap (1800m)

A lot of these horses are stepping up in grade, but Amoretti has been going around in a similar class his entire prep, and I think that it looks a great opportunity for him to strike.

The five-year-old gelding finished midfield behind Mirra Vision at Rosehill in late June, and he returned from a freshen up to finish a credible fifth here a fortnight ago.

I’m confident that run will have brough him right back on and he can fight out the finish on Wednesday.

Race 4 – 3:10pm – Admire Mars At Arrowfield Handicap (1550m)

This is a drop in class for Head Of State and he can return to winning form.

The American Pharoah colt finished sixth, beaten three lengths at Newcastle when resuming, and he was last seen finishing third in the Group 3 Ming Dynasty Quality.

Fitter third-up and back to the midweeks, I can’t find a reason why he won’t be in the finish.

Race 5 – 3:45pm – Benchmark 72 Handicap (1300m)

Promise Of Success hasn’t been seen at the races since July, but she has a strong fresh record, and I am happy to have something on this week.

The Dansili mare charged home to score an easy win in a similar race at Warwick Farm when resuming in June, and she filled the minors of her two subsequent starts.

She’s had the benefit of a trial in the lead-up to her return, and this looks well within her means.

Race 6 – 4:20pm – Earthlight @ Darley Handicap (1150m)

Overmann can make a winning return in the penultimate race in Sydney on Wednesday.

The Hinchinbrook gelding stamped himself as a runner to follow during his debut preparation, breaking his maiden at Rosehill Gardens most notably, and ending his prep with a run in the Group 1 JJ Atkins, albeit a bridge too far.

He returned a nice trial at Rosehill a couple of weeks ago and looks primed to strike fresh.

Race 7 – 4:55pm – Heineken Handicap (1400m)

Ashim has been stepping out in tougher Saturday contests since arriving in Australia, and I am confident that the decision to drop him back to Wednesday grade will pay dividends.

The son of Stormy Atlantic only just missed in a Midway race at Randwick in July, before finishing a length behind an impressive Casino Mondial in a similar contest.

He looks to be at peak fitness for Wednesday’s race, and we can have an each-way play at the price.
