Tasmanian quick Luke Butterworth claimed two wickets to leave South Australia 3-110 at lunch on the second day of a rain-affected Sheffield Shield match in Adelaide.
After the opening day was washed out, Butterworth struck twice in four balls after SA won the toss on Thursday at Adelaide Oval.
SA opener Tom Stray (50 not out) scored his maiden first-class half-century, while Butterworth (2-22) and James Faulkner (1-19) were the successful bowlers.
Faulkner dismissed Michael Klinger (25), the SA captain hooking a bouncer straight to Jeremy Smith at deep fine leg.
Klinger’s dismissal ended a 45-run opening partnership with Stray which, despite seaming conditions, came in less than 15 overs.
Teenager Travis Head, promoted to the No.3 slot, made 21 from 28 balls before spooning a catch to cover from Butterworth’s bowling.
Three balls later, Butterworth had Tom Cooper sharply caught head-high at second slip by George Bailey for a duck.
