Katich, Marsh return for WA

Former Test opening batsmen Simon Katich will makes his return to Australian first class cricket after an 18-month absence when he turns out for Western Australia in their Ryobi One-Day Cup match against Victoria at North Sydney Oval on Tuesday.

The 38-year-old quit NSW and Australian state cricket in early 2012 but scored heavily in English county cricket this year during Australia’s recent unsuccessful Ashes campaign.

WA are also boosted by the return of another former Test batsman in Shaun Marsh who lines up for his first match of the season following a hamstring injury, while spinner Ashton Agar has been omitted.

Western Australia won the toss and elected to send competition leaders Victoria into bat.
