India bowl Australia out for 131 at MCG

Australia suffered four run-outs in a total of 131 all-out in Friday’s second Twenty20 International against India at the MCG.

Aaron Finch (36) and Matthew Wade (32) were the only batsmen to pass 30 as the home side struggled on a pitch where the ball wasn’t coming on to the bat, making timing shots difficult.

But it was India’s work-rate and enthusiasm in the field, so clearly lacking in the Test series they lost four-nil, which was the standout feature of Australia’s innings demise.

David Warner, whose knock of 25 on Wednesday included a huge six after switching from left-handed to right-handed mid-delivery, failed to play the role of entertainer on Friday.

Warner lasted only eight balls before departing caught at deep square leg for eight.

Shaun Marsh, who scored only 17 runs in the Test series, fell for a second-ball duck as Praveen Kumar claimed two wickets in an over.

Virender Sehwag fumbled the catch at slip but Sehwag was able to knock it up for keeper MS Dhoni.

Finch hit 36 off 23 deliveries before he was run out at 3-49.

David Hussey was involved in a second run out two overs later when skipper George Bailey (three) was short of his ground at the non-striker’s after being sent back by Hussey.

Hussey (24) spooned a return catch to spinner Ravi Jadeja and Mitchell Marsh (13) was stumped by Dhoni off Rahul Sharma’s bowling.

A diving Wade failed to beat a direct hit from Rohit Sharma at cover in the 19th over while Clint McKay and Brad Hogg fell cheaply.

Xavier Doherty was last man out, appropriately run out, on the fourth ball of the 20th over.

Spinner Rahul Sharma claimed 2-29.

The home side lead the two-match series one-nil after a 31-run win at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium on Wednesday.

Australia included Finch, Shaun Marsh and McKay for Travis Birt, Dan Christian and James Faulkner.
