A quickfire unbeaten hundred from Ben Cutting has put Queensland in a commanding position against South Australia at lunch on day two of the Sheffield Shield match at the Gabba.
The fast bowler brought up his maiden first class century with a two off the last ball before lunch.
His 100 has come off 70 balls, including 11 fours and four sixes, with the Bulls score moving onto 7-370.
He has been ably supported by Cameron Boyce, who is 17 not out with the pair’s unbeaten eighth-wicket partnership standing at 109.
Coming to the crease at 6-242, Cutting tore into the South Australian attack hitting boundaries to all parts of the ground to swing the momentum of the game firmly into Queensland’s favour.
No bowler escaped but he was particularly severe on Australia spin bowler Nathan Lyon whose consecutive overs went for 32 runs.
The Redbacks even resorted to putting seven men on the boundary towards the end of the session to stop Cutting reaching three figures, but he did so with a leg glance off the bowling of Sam Miller.
Resuming at 5-202, Bulls skipper James Hopes scored 47 before edging Gary Putland behind and Chris Hartley made 34 before falling leg before to Lyon.
Usman Khawaja was the Bulls’ main contributor on day one scoring 88 in difficult conditions.
Putland has been the pick of the Redbacks bowlers taking 3-94.
