Aust sent into bat by England in final ODI

Australia have lost the toss in the fifth and final one-day international and have been sent into bat by England in Manchester.

Australia made two forced changes to the team that lost by eight wickets on Saturday, when they went 3-0 down in the series, as spinner Xavier Doherty and all-rounder Steve Smith came in for calf injury victims Shane Watson and Brett Lee, who have both flown home already.

England made one change, bringing in offspinner James Tredwell for fast bowler Tim Bresnan, who captain Alastair Cook said had a sore elbow, so England were fielding two frontline spinners on a dry, grassless pitch.

Tuesday’s match was delayed by three and half hours because rain had saturated the outfield, so the loss of time meant they were now playing 32 overs per side.

England are seeking a record tenth straight victory in one-day internationals.

Teams: Australia: David Warner, Matthew Wade, Peter Forrest, Michael Clarke (captain), George Bailey, David Hussey, Steve Smith, Clint McKay, Ben Hilfenhaus, James Pattinson, Xavier Doherty.

England: Alastair Cook (captain), Ian Bell, Jonathan Trott, Ravi Bopara, Eoin Morgan, Craig Kieswetter, Samit Patel, Stuart Broad, James Tredwell, James Anderson, Steven Finn.
