Aust field first v Bangla desh

Australia have called upon an all-pace attack in their bid to break a three-game losing streak in their World Twenty20 dead rubber with tournament hosts Bangladesh.

Australia will field first after Bangladesh skipper Mushfiqur Rahim won the toss and elected to bat – a decision which drew a large cheer from the partisan crowd.

Bangladesh are also winless in Group 2, with the loser of Tuesday’s fixture suffering the ignominy of being the only Super 10 team without tasting victory – a feat even the Netherlands achieved on Monday night with a stunning win over England.

Australia have opted to drop young legspinner James Muirhead and again omit veteran left-armer Brad Hogg, leaving them without a specialist spinner in their fourth and final group match.

The spin duties will now likely fall to Glenn Maxwell, whose batting has been the sole shining light of Australia’s miserable campaign, and opener David Warner, who was seen rolling his arm over in the warmup.

Instead, allrounder Dan Christian has been called up for his first match of the tournament while right-arm paceman Nathan Coulter-Nile has been recalled after being left out since

Australia’s first-up loss to Pakistan, with veteran batsman Brad Hodge also dumped.

Australia have only lost once to Bangladesh in any format – a one-day defeat suffered in Cardiff in 2005.
