Aussies Set To Experiment In Women’s T20

With the series already in the bag, Australia’s final two women’s Twenty20 internationals against New Zealand could take on an experimental feel for the Southern Stars.

Australia dominated the first three matches of the series against the White Ferns at North Sydney Oval earlier this month, taking an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-game tournament.

And while the team is keen to continue their dominance when game four is played at ANZ Stadium as a curtain-raiser to the men’s T20 between Australia and India, captain Jodie Fields hinted there could be changes made for Wednesday’s match.

“Our big aim is to dominate the series and win the last two so it’s a whitewash,” Fields told reporters.

“Probably in the next couple of games we’ll look to change a few things up and give people opportunities in different roles.”

That could mean NSW medium-pacer Sharon Millanta being given her first start of the series while young gun Alyssa Healy will be keen to play a prominent role.

Fringe players such as game one debutant Jess Jonassen as well as bowlers Sarah Coyte and Erin Osborne will also be hoping to cement their spots ahead of the T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka later this year.

Wednesday’s game begins at 2.05pm AEDT.
