Dangerous Port Adelaide rover Robbie Gray has overcome a hamstring injury and will play his first game of the AFL season on Saturday.
Gray will line-up for the Power against Sydney at AAMI Stadium, having been sidelined for the initial two games.
Tall forward John Butcher (hamstring), who missed Port’s loss to Essendon last Saturday, and rookie Chad Wingard (eye) face fitness tests later in the week.
Attacker Justin Westhoff said the 24-year-old Gray would add class to Port’s outfit to host the Swans.
“Obviously Robbie is a pretty big part of our team, he’s a superstar for us,” Westhoff told reporters on Tuesday.
“He will release a few guys in the midfield to go forward, so it’s a big inclusion for us.”
Port downed St Kilda to open their season before falling away to Essendon in a 25-point loss which Westhoff said was a let down.
“We were in a very good position to win the game and not to come home with the four points was very disappointing,” he said.
“We felt like we were playing shocking, but we were still in the game.”
Westhoff said Port’s gutted reaction to the defeat showed expectations were rising after their worst AFL season last year returned just three wins.
“We go into every game expecting to win,” Westhoff said.
“Obviously last year was pretty disappointing, but we definitely want to win.
“We have got a formula which we think can win most games but we have got to put a lot of work into it.
“If we can get every thing right, our structures and things like that, we know we will win most games.”
