Melbourne coach Mark Neeld insists there are positives to be taken from his AFL side’s monumental weekend thrashing by West Coast.
Neeld and the Demons have endured a wretched start to the season.
A poor performance against Brisbane in round one was followed by Neeld being dragged wrongly and without foundation into a racial row.
The club then cut ties with major sponsor EnergyWatch over the fallout from comments by that company’s chief executive, before a 108-point battering by the Eagles in Perth.
But after watching the match with his assistant coaches, Neeld believes there was something to work with.
“We found some things that were a little bit positive which will be good for the players to see in the review this afternoon,” Neeld said.
“We reckon for two and a half quarters the boys were able to play the way we wanted them to play.
“The ball movement improved from the previous week. Some of the centre-square work, there was some positive things there.”
The Demons take on another club winless after two matches, Richmond, at the MCG on Saturday.
