Preview

The Brownlow Medal will be presented on Sunday night with a very different look due to COVID restrictions. Despite the low key event this year it is set-up to be another event punters will be keen to bet into.

Lachie Neale will WIN THE 2020 BROWNLOW MEDAL.

You read it here first.

He’s played all 17 games for the mighty Brisbane Lions (proudly sponsored by Neds) averaging 27 disposals a game.

If anything, the Brownlow will be a forgone conclusion by about Round 10 in our books.

Neale is at Winx-like odds to win the medal and if he doesn’t it’ll be the biggest robbery since Anthony Koutofiedies in 2000 when Shane Woewodin took the medal.

I really can’t see an upset happening, neither can the punters.

He’s not even a dickhead around the umpires who give out the votes and to be honest, the umps probably just fill in L-Neale 3 votes on their Brownlow voting form before any match involving the Brisbane Lions (proudly sponsored by Neds) gets underway.

On behalf of all of the team here at Neds – proud sponsors of the Brisbane Lions, we congratulate Lachie Neale on taking home the 2020 Brownlow medal.

Winner without Lachie Neale:

Much like races involving Winx back in the day, this is the market where there’s actually a bit of value to be found.

There has never been quite a race to be the Brownlow bridesmaid like this one.

Could Geelong’s Patrick Dangerfield become the second man in the history of the game to get three-second place finishes in the count?

Christian Petracca has had a great season for Melbourne, despite the Dees being well – the Dees.

He could also do a Woewodin and become another Melbourne player to rob the actual deserved winner of the medal on the night, but he’s more likely to be a bridesmaid.

St.Kilda’s Jack Steele at a sneaky $6.50 is not a bad bet.

The Giant turned Saint has had a stellar season in 2020 averaging 21.9 disposals and having shaken off the tag, had some brilliant performances and should jag himself a few three-vote games.

However, Port Adelaide’s Travis Boak is as good as the best bet you can make to finish second to Lachie Neale in the Brownlow.

The Power games record holder has had a brilliant season, if not his best yet.

Averaging more than 23 disposals, along with five clearances, four inside 50s and just under four tackles – Boak has played more than a vital role in getting Port Adelaide to top of the ladder.

Boak is a proven vote-getter – 21 votes in 2014, 16 in 2015 and got 16 last year with Port winning only 10 games.

He’s just picked the wrong year to have a Brownlow medal-winning season and will have to settle for being Lachie Neale’s understudy.
