Western Australia have been set a paltry 68 runs to win after Queensland collapsed early on the final day of their Sheffield Shield clash at the Gabba.
Second-placed WA look set to reduce Queensland’s ladder lead to just four points with two rounds left after the Bulls failed to roar on Thursday.
After resuming at 4-111, Queensland at one stage lost 4-11 to be bundled out for 175 in their second dig.
Ex-Test spinner Michael Beer (3-19) was the main destroyer.
He sparked the collapse by dismissing stand-in Bulls skipper Chris Hartley (21) and Cameron Boyce (0) in three balls to reduce the hosts to 8-164.
Hartley was hardly impressed when given out caught at bat-pad, standing his ground before trudging off as WA celebrated.
Beer completed the rout when he trapped Luke Feldman in front with a quicker delivery as Queensland overall lost 6-49 on Thursday.
Top scorer was Joe Burns (43) but Michael Neser received the loudest round of applause.
The allrounder suffered an ankle sprain in the field on Wednesday but still opted to bat on Thursday – a job made harder with runners now not allowed.
He hobbled to nine runs before being bowled by ex-Bulls quick Nathan Rimmington (3-28).
