Australian captain Michael Clarke will find out on Wednesday how much cricket he will miss due to another hamstring injury.
He will have scans in Adelaide on his left hamstring amid fears the injury will rule him out of the looming West Indies tour.
Clarke strained his left hamstring while making a century in Australia’s loss to Sri Lanka in the second tri-series final in Adelaide on Tuesday.
The skipper only returned to action last Sunday after being sidelined with a right hamstring strain.
Clarke appears certain to miss the tri-series decider against the Lankans in Adelaide on Thursday.
And he’s in doubt to depart with the rest of the Australian team on their flights to the West Indies on Friday.
“I have done something to my left hamstring, I don’t know to what extent,” Clarke said after Tuesday night’s defeat.
“But it’s obviously not feeling good at the moment, that is for sure.
“We leave for West Indies in three days … I don’t want to make a judgment until I make a scan, I think I would be silly to do that.”
Clarke suspected the injury was due to over-compensating with his left leg while nursing his strained right hamstring.
Australian team physiotherapist Alex Kountouris wanted to delay Clarke’s return.
“I pushed really hard to try and get back for this finals series,” Clarke said.
“And I tried my best not to give Alex much of an option, to be honest … I know he probably would have preferred me to take it easy.
“But after straining my right one, I probably favoured my left over the past couple of weeks, 10 days, and I have done a bit of damage there.”
