Wayward serves can’t stop Pliskova

Wayward serves have been the only concern for world No.5 Karolina Pliskova as she booked her place in the Australian Open second round.

Just half of the Czech’s first serves landed in but she had little trouble controlling the court once the ball was in play, thrashing Sara Sorribes Tormo 6-2 6-0 on Tuesday.

Pliskova was ruthless on the Spaniard’s serve, breaking her all but one time, as she closed out the match in a tick over an hour on Rod Laver Arena.
