Samantha Stosur cruised to an easy straight-sets victory on Tuesday in her opening match at the Hong Kong Open.

The Australian fifth seed brushed aside Japanese player Risa Ozaki 6-3 6-1.

Stosur will face Monica Puig of Puerto Rico in the second round.

In other first-round results, Jelena Jankovic of Serbia beat Romanian qualifier Ana Bogdan 6-4 6-2, while French seventh seed Caroline Garcia defeated American Lauren Davis 6-1 6-3.

In opening-round action on Monday, Anastasia Rodionova of Australia defeated France’s Irina Ramialison 6-4 7-5, while Yaroslava Shvedova from Kazakhstan downed Australian Jarmila Gajdosova 6-4 6-4.
