Queenslander Ben Mitchell has progressed to the final of the Australian Open wildcard play-offs with a tough four-set win over South Australian Bradley Mousley.
With the temperature approaching 37 degrees at Melbourne Park, the fourth seed dropped the first set before prevailing, 2-6 7-6 (7-3) 7-6 (7-2) 6-4.
Top seed James Duckworth faces Victorian Marinko Matosevic in the other semi-final, with the winner of Sunday’s final awarded a wildcard entry into the main draw of the 2016 Australian Open.
