Klopp extends Liverpool contract

Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp has signed a new contract with the club to remain at Anfield until 2022.

Klopp, replaced for Brendan Rodgers last year, led the Reds in his first season to the finals of the Europa League and the Capital One Cup and eighth place in the Premier League.

In addition to the German coach, his assistants Zeljko Buvac and Peter Krawietz also extended their contracts.

“It’s hard to express in words how honoured myself, Zeljko and Peter feel by the commitment shown in us by the ownership and the club in general,” Klopp said.

“We are very much at the beginning of our journey, but to already have the connection we have with this very special place is incredible.

The German coach came to Anfield after seven seasons with Borussia Dortmund, where he won two Bundesliga titles and reached a Champions League final.
