Ukraine beats Israel 3-2 in friendly

European Championship co-host Ukraine defeated Israel 3-2 in an entertaining game on Wednesday to stay unbeaten in its past five friendlies.

Oleg Gusev, Yevhen Konoplyanka and Andriy Yarmolenko were on target for Oleg Blokhin’s Ukrainians, who last lost to the Czech Republic in September.

Tomer Hemed and Ben Sahar scored for Israel in a disappointing start for new coach Eli Guttman, who replaced Luis Fernandez of France in December.

Ukraine will co-host Euro 2012 with Poland from June 8 to July 1.
