Ryan Griffiths stays on with Jets

The Newcastle Jets have re-signed key striker Ryan Griffiths to a two-year deal.

Griffiths, who played for four years in China before returning to play with Newcastle in the A-League 14 months ago, had attracted interest from within Australia and overseas.

But the 30-year-old opted to stay in Australia and as he eyes off an A-League title.

“My sole reason for signing was about joining a club with a huge future,” Griffiths said.

“I believe the Jets can provide exactly that and I want to be a part of it.

“From when I first arrived here to when the Hunter Sports Group took over the club, the change and professionalism of the club are second to none.

Coach Gary van Egmond said Griffiths is the type of player he wanted to stay at the club.

“Ryan is a talented player with a lot to offer; on and off the field his leadership is particularly exemplary,” van Egmond said.
