When: 19:00 | Sunday 29/10/2017
Where: Central Coast Stadium
Preview:
This is an absolute must win game for the Victory. Defensively Melbourne have not kept a clean sheet this season and we don’t think they will last a full 90 minutes without Central Coast scoring at least once. Andrew Hoole returns from suspension which is crucial for the Mariners’ ability to transition from midfield into attack.
The Mariners have shown against the Wanderers and Glory that they are not the easy-beats who lost 5-1 to the Jets in the season opener. In fact in all three of their matches this season they have actually scored first…and early. Central Coast went up 1-0 in the 5th minute against the Jets, the 21st minute against the Wanderers and the 14th minute against the Glory. Felix Asdrubal has scored two of those opening goals and Wout Brama the third in Perth last weekend.
FINAL SAY: The Victory are undoubtedly the better team. The Mariners represent the weakest opponent they have played this season and they should win this match. We doubt their ability to keep the Mariners scoreless which says that they will need to score at least twice. If the Victory get going they could put 3-4 past Central Coast.
