This is an incredibly important game for the Victory for two reasons. If they lose this match they will have started the new season losing to their three biggest rivals, and whilst you can argue there are probably 7 other teams that Kevin Muscat hates these are the three that mean the most.
Secondly the Victory have two games with their full squad before they lose their core of Barbarouses, Milligan and Troisi to international duty. This will impact the Victory over rounds 5-7.
Adelaide will have one eye on their FFA Cup semi-final against Western Sydney midweek. The Reds fought hard to get a late win against the Roar with Johan Absalonsen scoring the winner. The Dane is one of the top recruits in the competition and will trouble the Victory defence if they don’t lock him down.
FINAL SAY: On paper the Victory are the better team. They have a very strong midfield although they have struggled to score and are yet to see any goals this season from Besart Berisha. The Victory are unlikely to lose a third game and with United a small step down from City and the Sky Blues we will back them for the win.
