Tensions will be reignited in Sydney on Saturday night when the Waratahs and Reds write another chapter in their storied rivalry.

The Waratahs enter the clash fresh after a week off and prior to that, two disappointing losses.

That have in fact recorded just one win in Super Rugby Australia, and another loss this week would be particularly damaging to their campaign.

The Reds will be eager to atone for a heart-breaking loss of their own against competition leaders the Brumbies.

They showed plenty of spine to stay in the fight and even go ahead in the second half, and they can probably count themselves unlucky in not getting the result.

While that did see the Brumbies open a larger gap on the ladder, the Reds remain well and truly in the hunt, and can keep the pressure on with a bonus point win on Saturday.

When these sides met earlier in Round 1, the Reds snapped a seven-year winless streak against the Waratahs, and they look well placed to make it two in a row.
