An intriguing fixture will see the Rebels and Brumbies do battle at Leichardt Oval in Sydney on Friday night.

For the ‘home’ side, Round 5 of Super Rugby Australia proved to be a fruitful one.

It was an arm wrestle that lasted the full eighty minutes with the Western Force and then some, but ultimately three tries, including one from Isi Naisarani in ‘Super Time’ sealed the result, and kept the Rebels in touch with both the Reds and this week’s opponent on the ladder.

There is no doubt that a similar performance against the Brumbies would not be nearly good enough, but there were still plenty of things to like about the Rebels’ sheer toughness and desire to win.

The Brumbies meanwhile consolidated their position at the top of the table with a last-gasp win over the Reds.

They looked to be on their way to another comfortable night at the office with a big start and an early try to hooker Folau Fainga’a, but they left the door open and were pounced on early in the second half.

The result means that the Brumbies remain undefeated against Australian sides since March 2019, and this represents another terrific opportunity for them to win.
