Force’s Godwin back in Super starting 15

Western Force centre Kyle Godwin will make his long-awaited return to the starting line-up as the struggling Super Rugby franchise attempt to end their seven-match losing run in Saturday’s clash with the Sunwolves in Japan.

Godwin hasn’t been in the starting side since injuring his knee in the round-one loss to the Melbourne Rebels.

But after making three appearances off the bench, Godwin has been thrust back into the No.12 jersey in one of four changes to the side.

Prop Guy Millar, lock Ross Haylett-Petty and flanker Brynard Stander have also earned recalls.

Flyhalf Peter Grant, who missed last week’s loss to the Bulls with an eye injury, will make his return from the bench.

Both the Force and Sunwolves have snared just one win apiece this season, with only the Kings sitting below them on the ladder.

Force coach Michael Foley is optimistic his team can turn their form around.

“There’s a sense of excitement about the chance to play in Tokyo,” Foley said.

“And we feel we have an opportunity to pick up some wins towards the back end of the season if we attack each game for the 80 minutes without fear.”
