Aussies name unchanged team for 2nd ODI

Australia will stick with the same team which beat the West Indies in game one for Sunday’s second one-day international in St Vincent.

The team was confirmed after a light training run at the Arnos Vale Cricket Ground on Saturday, selectors sticking by the XI who delivered a 64-run win on Friday at the venue.

It means pace duo Ben Hilfenhaus and James Pattinson, as well as spinner Nathan Lyon, will have to wait until at least game three in St Vincent on Tuesday before making their first appearances in the Caribbean.

Hilfenhaus (virus) and Pattinson (strained buttock muscle) were both fit for selection for game two while Lyon lost his place in the team for game one to middle-order batsman George Bailey, who top-scored with 48 on debut on Friday.

Bailey said Friday’s win will put the team in good stead for the rest of the series.

“We learnt a lot,” he said.

“There’s some bowlers we hadn’t seen from them, we’ve looked at a lot of footage but until you’re actually out there facing it and getting a feel for the pace, how much the ball turns and what they do you don’t fully appreciate it.

“That’s been a really good experience for us. No doubt getting a win is a great little burst of momentum to start the tour.”

The West Indies are yet to name their team but with bowlers Tino Best and Devendra Bishoo the only options for selectors in their 13-man squad changes are unlikely despite the game one defeat.

Sunday’s game begins at 9.30am (0030 Monday AEDT).

Australia: Shane Watson (capt), David Warner, Peter Forrest, David Hussey, Michael Hussey, George Bailey, Matthew Wade, Dan Christian, Brett Lee, Clint McKay, Xavier Doherty.
