Vinales Takes Impressive Home Win

Former 125 cc champion Maverick Vinales has won in a dominant flag to flag performance at his home track of Aragon.  Conditions that made for difficult riding in the first half of the Moto 3 race cleared up for a completely dry Moto 2 race. Much to the disappointment of riders such as Australian Anthony West , Brit Gino Rea and Frenchman Johan Zarco who have proven their ability to excel in wet tricky conditions .

Vinales starting from Pole Postion never looked in trouble, with the Kalex rider showing his class in his in a well overdue victory. Mark VDS Rider Tito Rabat tried his best to catch Vinales in the aim to extend his championship lead, but with Kallio in a scrap fight for sixth taking the podium was the smart idea.

While Vinales and Rabat embarked on lonely rides Johan Zarco was pushing for his second consecutive podium locked in a battle with Thomas Luthi. If the rain had not cleared, our bet is the Frenchman would be standing on top of the rostrum.

Finish Marc VDS Rider Mika Kallio was in a battle to selvage points in a title race that could be slipping away from him. In the end the Mark VDS rider finished 7th with 9 points, losing out 11 points to title leader and teammate Tito Rabat.

The woes continued for last year’s winner Nico Terol, riding on his home track, Terol finished a disappointing 23rd, a far cry from last year’s impressive victory. The Spaniards teammate Jordi Torres finished in 8th, his best finish for 2014.

Rounding up the top 10 was Luthi, losing the battle for 3rd with Zarco , with Italtrans Franco Morbidelli,  Technomags Dominique Aegerter, Speed Ups Sam Lowes and Tech 3 Marcel Schrotter making up the rest of the numbers.

Rabat’s title lead is now out to 33 points and with four races left the pressure is on Kallio to get race wins. It may now take a perfect storm for the Fin to take the Championship; lets see how things pan out in 2 weeks at Motegi.
