Fenati Masters Tricky Conditions

Sky Racings VR46 Romano Fenati has taken an impressive win in the Aragon Moto 3 Race mastering the difficult conditions that had originally delayed proceedings. Fog and Mist saw the pace in warm up lap 13 seconds slower then during qualifying, so the riders where always going to be set for a challenging race.

A dry line eventually formed by lap 10 and it was Fenati who stormed from 13th on the grid to take the win. The young Italian is no stranger at mastering tricky conditions; taking his maiden Moto 3 wins in horrific conditions at Jerez in 2012 where over half the competitors failed to complete the race.

Danny Kent found himself in with a real chance to take an upset victory, his first in just under 2 years. But Kent fell short and managed to take his 2nd podium in 4 races, maybe things are heading in the right direction for the Brit who finished 4th in the 2012 Moto 3 season.

Many thought Jack Miller could be the one to take out Alex Rins on his home track but after a collision with championship rival Alex Marquez, Miller’s dreams of extending his title lead were squandered.

Race officials have investigated the clash after the race, but with no update about any penalties it seems it will be declared a “racing incident” and neither rider will face any penalty or sanction.

Miller thinks quite the opposite, being quoted blaming Marquez after the race “I was just going around the corner normally, and I knew Marquez would normally have to shut off because there was a bit of a puddle on the inside.

“But he didn’t close the gas and drove straight into the side of me, and I fell off my bike.

“That happens. This is racing” Miller said on Speed TV.

While Marquez was adamant it was not his fault declaring ““I passed him on the inside, rode my line on the dry bit of track and felt contact halfway into the corner,”

“I think that what happened was a racing incident.”

This is incident will have huge ramifications in the title race.

Marquez now leads the title by 11 points over Miller and with four races left the Champion Race is open, 41 points separate the top 4 riders and 18 points the top 3, who will be crowned the Moto 3 Champion in 2014, your guess is as good as mine.
