2018 Hungarian Grand Prix Preview, Bets, Tips and Odds

Just a week removed from Germany’s drama, the 12th race on the 2018 Formula One calendar gets underway from the Hungaroring on Sunday ahead of the midseason break.

Gearing up for its 34th running, the Hungarian Grand Prix is a 70-lap race, last won by Sebastian Vettel in 2017.

As far as favourites go this year, Vettel once again leads the way despite last weeks disappointment in front of his home German crowd. In a surprise turn of events, Max Verstappen enters as the early second favourite, while Lewis Hamilton finds himself way out in the odds.

Can Vettel challenge Hamilton atop the drivers standings? Or will Verstappen find himself on the podium for the fourth time this year?

Check out our entire 2018 Hungarian Grand Prix Preview below for all of our tips!

Best Bet – Lewis Hamilton to Win at $4.33

History says Vettel is the driver to back, but the past hasn’t been the best betting guide so far this season.

Having won two of the last three races, Vettel won from pole position last year, but Hamilton’s history in Hungary is too great to ignore.

The Brit has won this Grand Prix five times, and with a chance to really separate himself from Vettel ahead of the summer break, we should expect nothing less than a clutch drive from one of the sports all-time greats.

Best Value – Winning Car – Qualifying: Ferrari at $2.63

Even if he goes on to lose, Ferrari’s record on this track should convince you that Vettel holds every chance of securing pole position this weekend.

Ferrari have won seven times on this track, including last season. Vettel’s fastest lap in qualifying last year was one minute, 16.276 seconds, while Ferrari also set the race lap record back in 2004 with Michael Schumacher in the drivers seat.

Podium Finish – Kimi Raikkonen at $3.00

Raikonnen sits in a distant third position in the drivers standings, but the Finnish superstar has secured the second most podium finishes (seven) behind Hamilton so far this season.

Still not convinced? Raikonnen has also made eight podium appearances in Hungary, the most of any current driver in Formula One.
