Portugal’s Joao Sousa claimed the second ATP title of his career by coming from a set down to beat Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut 3-6 6-3 6-4 in the Valencia Open final on Sunday.
Bautista Agut had saved five match points in beating American Steve Johnson on Saturday night and paid for his exertions as the world number 24 also surrendered an early break in the second set.
Victory is Sousa’s first tournament win since Kuala Lumpur two years ago and makes up for the disappointment of losing finals in St Petersburg, Umag and Geneva earlier this year.
