Sharks sign Bulldog centre Wright

Cronulla have added a strike weapon to their 2013 backline to go with one of the NRL’s most powerful forward packs, with the signing of Canterbury centre Jonathan Wright.

Wright, who signed a two-year deal, has been a consistent performer for the ladder-leading Bulldogs under new coach Des Hasler this season, scoring 11 tries.

Also inking new deals with the Sharks on Thursday were talented young centre Ricky Leutele and veteran hooker John Morris, who both agreed to one-year deals.

Their signings follow the addition of impressive Penrith pair Luke Lewis and Michael Gordon, both of whom will join the Sharks in 2013.

Sharks coach Shane Flanagan was excited by Wright’s versatility.

“He is comfortable playing centre or wing and has had a great year in what is obviously a pretty good Bulldogs side,” Flanagan said in a press release.

“He will bring plenty of strike power to our backline from next season.”
