TAB punters are embracing the value around Manly causing an upset over the Storm in Week One of the NRL Finals with 80 percent of the money coming for the Sea Eagles in the Head-to-Head market.
Melbourne are $1.38 favourites with Manly having drifted from $2.90 to $3.10, but that value combined with Tom Trbojevic’s remarkable form surge and concerns over Cameron Munster’s fitness has seen strong support for the Sea Eagles.
One of the biggest bets taken so far is $5,390 at $3 on Manly to spring the upset.
Both clubs have shortened in the Premiership market with Melbourne title favourites at $2.40, moving in from $2.50 and Manly tightening from $7 into $6.50.
In the other Finals:
- The market is with the Roosters in their knock-out clash against the Titans with Gold Coast blowing out from $3.60 to $4.10. One punter is so confident the Roosters can overcome their injury toll that they’ve placed $500 on James Tedesco winning the Clive Churchill medal on Grand Final day at $71.
- After dominating Souths last month the early money was understandably with Penrith, but it has evened out with South Sydney offering value at $4.20 after opening at $3.90. The Panthers still remain the best backed team to win the title (see attached), with several Futures bets at or above the $10,000 mark (see below). The Rabbitohs have drifted from $10 to $11 in the Premiership market.
- The Knights have slipped past the $3 mark with an injury cloud over David Klemmer ahead of their eliminator with the Eels who are $1.38 favourites.
